Life can be a struggle. Sometimes it can be hard to figure things out. Maybe you know what you want, but you’re not sure how to get it. Or perhaps you’re not clear about what really matters to you, so you end up doing what’s expected of you or what others think is right for you. In short, you end up following someone else’s agenda.

That’s where I come in. My role as your coach is to help you to bring out the best in yourself. I truly believe that each one of us has an enormous untapped potential and that we can all lead a life that is true to ourselves, both personally and professionally.

In essence, coaching is about helping you to produce the change in your life that you truly desire. Change is often challenging. It requires us to modify the way we habitually  think and act. The good news is that change is not as hard as it seems, especially when we become better acquainted with our own brain – how it can both help us or hinder us. Yes, our brain can be our greatest ally or our biggest foe; it is our choice. But first we need to understand how to harness its enormous power and to avoid some common pitfalls.

Your brain was not designed to make you happy. It’s prime purpose is to help you survive. The limbic system – one of the most ancient parts of the brain – evolved long before the emergence of our species. It sees the world in very simple terms. Either something is a threat that we want to move away from or a reward that we want to move towards. Often the thinking part of our brain – the prefrontal cortex – can have the best of intentions, but its finely honed reasoning and thinking abilities are often hijacked by the amygdala, the seat of our emotions.

In brain-based coaching, we get the emotional part of your brain and the thinking part of your brain to work together. By doing this, we can take advantage of the brain’s neuroplasticity, it’s extraordinary capacity to form new neural connections, or mental maps. With enough attention, repetition and reward, these neural pathways become the new you. We can literally rewire our brains at any stage of our life.
